Art 6&7 ... SPACE the Final Frontier ... Joan Miró ... Purple team inspiration

Students in Q2 Art studied Joan Miró. Each team was given a different theme to explore.

BLUE - Miró Skyscapes
PURPLE - Space
RED - Pets
GREEN - Portraits: Selfies and Family

We also explored different watercolour mediums and learned how to use an AQUA brush. 
A HUGE hit!!
We also used wax crayon resist techniques, oil pastels, neons and metallics.
A fun Mixed Media project!!

Students went on an outdoor treasure hunt, looking for objects that they could use to 
create their flowers/gardens and oversized bugs.

ART 6/7: Colour Theory ... Quarter 3

Students have been working on their Colour Wheels and Theory.

We've identified:
    Primary colours
    Secondary colours
    Tertiary colours
    Warm & Cool
    Analogous (Family) colours
    Complementary colours
    Monochromatic colours (tints & shades)

Next we'll look at 3 different watercolour mediums in preparation for our painting project.

Which 2-D art form is it similar to?

What kind of mediums did the early artists work in? List them.

Art 6/7 students researched the art of MC Escher, and learned how to make a SLIDE and ROTATIONAL tessellation. Next they explored 5 different mediums, and tested different texture plates for possible use. Lastly, they selected a COLOUR STORY from their Colour Theory study. All this en route to their final project.

Art 6/7 students researched the art of MC Escher, and learned how to make a SLIDE and ROTATIONAL tessellation. Next they explored 5 different mediums, and tested different texture plates for possible use. Lastly, they selected a COLOUR STORY from their Colour Theory study. All this en route to their final project.

ART 6/7 ... TESTING DIFFERENT MEDIUMS for our MIRÓ

 

All students had a chance to use 4 different mediums as preparation for our Miró inspired painting project next week. They were also introduced to the AQUA BRUSH. Students can tell you how to load, use and clean the aqua brush and which mediums require the aqua brush. The small regular brush can be used with all 4 mediums. They also know how to activate the WC Pencils and the Inktense Pencils and apply the Liquid WC and Yarka Pan Paints. I've included photos of each medium ... Christmas IS coming!!

ART 6/7 ... Joan Miró

Joan Miró ... Painter ... Sculptor ... Ceramist

Today, Q2 art classes were introduced to Joan Miró.

 1) VIDEO INTRO ... students took notes on some key points



2) Next, they traced a 5"x5" square onto pg5 of sketchbook (SKBK)

3)  They looked to see how MIRÓ signs his paintings. 
They reproduced a sample into their SKBKs


4) They googled the Flag of Spain for their SKBKs. Again, a quick sketch plus colour



5) STUDENTS searched for 
a) birth date and death (cause of death)
b) nationality
c) known for what kind of art?
d) art training or background??
e) family
f) what happened at his first exhibition in 1918?


6) We googled 5-10 INTERESTING, FUN or UNBELIEVABLE FACTS about MIRÓ.


TOMORROW ... good copy notes into our book and the SQUARE!!

All Art 6 students will be issued a Sketchbook at N/C upon entering SMS.

However, if filled, lost or students simply wishing a second SKBK, they will find ...
