 Alma Thomas, 1891-1978

Alma Woodsey Thomas was an African-American Expressionist painter and art educator best known for her colorful abstract paintings. She lived and worked primarily in Washington, D.C. and The Washington Post described her as a force in the Washington Color School. (wikipedia)

This week at SMS, classes will be creating a colourful mosaic-like painting in the style of Alma Thomas

You'll need:
 a 1/4" and 1/2" FLAT paint brush
paint (whatever you have at home)
container of water to wash brushes between colours
watercolour paper or sketchbook

We'll be using primary & secondary coloured Chromatemp paint PLUS white (for tints)
a variety of shapes of watercolour paper
