Art 6/7 ... Tessellations inspired by MC Escher: HOW TO BUILD a SLIDE tessellation

Building a Tessellation

ART students are building a SLIDE or ROTATIONAL tessellation for their BIG PROJECT!
They may even include a VOID in their Organic or Geometric design.

STEP 1 ... Label your square (A1, A2, B1, B2)
STEP 2 ... draw your organic (or geometric) shape on the A1 top half side.
REMINDER: start in the corner (top left or right)

STEP 3 ... cut out your A1 shape
Cut carefully along your black line

STEP 4 ... slide the A1 design below your A2 side
LINE UP THE CORNER(S)

STEP 5 ... TAPE the two sides together.
Use very small pieces of tape - one on each side.
DO NOT OVERLAP YOUR SIDES.
Butt them up side x side.

STEP 6 ... Draw your Geometric (or Organic) shape on B1 side
START YOUR DESIGN ON A B1 CORNER

STEP 7 ... Cut out B1 design

STEP 8 ... SLIDE your B1 shape to the B2 side.
Line up your corner!!
STEP 9 ... TAPE your B1 to the B2 side
